Causes Of Frequent Urination

What Are the Causes of Frequent Urination?

The causes of frequent urination are probably at the top of your curiosity list if you are suffering from this terrible inconvenience.  You are probably wondering what is wrong with you and how you can get help so that it the urination will stop.  No one wants to be in a situation where they need to go to the bathroom all of the time.  It can become embarrassing just as it can be a burden on you. This article is going to explore some of the reasons for this problem.

First of all, do not become so overwhelmed with this issue that you are creating anxiety for yourself.  It is important to remember that, most of the time, the causes of frequent urination are not going to cause you serious harm in the long run, as long as they are taken care of.  Most frequently this problem is caused by a urinary tract infection.  This is something that can be cleared up relatively easily as long as you go to the doctor and get help.  The urinary tract infection will cause you to need to use the restroom more often because there is inflammation that is effecting the bladder’s ability to hold the urine in.  You may even notice that when you feel like you need to use the restroom, you are not going that much.  This is because of the inflammation.

Other common causes of frequent urination include pregnancy and diabetes.  Therefore, if you are concerned about the amount of time you spend in the bathroom, you may want to have your doctor check you for diabetes.  This is especially true if other individuals in your family suffer from diabetes.  It is best to be checked in order to make sure you are ok.  You are also going to want to let your doctor know that diabetes does run in your family. This is going to help him or her determine where they need to start.  On the other hand, if you are pregnant, you should realize that frequent urination is most likely going to continue until you deliver your baby.  The baby is going to be putting pressure on your bladder and make you feel like you need to urinate.  This is common and it is not a sign that there is anything else wrong with you.  The uncomfortable feelings and the constant trips to the restroom will all end when you have delivered your new bundle of joy.

If you are the type of person that enjoys consuming a lot of liquids in the evening, before you go to bed, you should realize that this may be one of the causes of frequent urination.  Many people will drink a large class of water before they turn in for the night.  You will want to avoid this if you can because it is only going to cause you to need to use the restroom throughout the night.  This is not going to help you sleep well at all.  You should also avoid caffeine or alcohol because those things are going to increase your urination as well.  Simply eliminating these things before bedtime may help you rest easier and stop the trips to the bathroom.

While, often times, the causes of frequent urination are not that serious, there are times when you are going to want to notify your doctor right away.  If you have a fever along with the constant sensation to use the restroom you will want to get to the doctor.  You will want to do the same thing if you have back or side pain, you are throwing up or you feel chilled.  If you are extremely tired, thirsty all of the time or you are losing weight unexpectedly you are going to want to talk to the doctor so that he or she can run tests to determine what is going on with you.
