Ways To Get Thin

Five Easy Ways to Get Thin

Given our busy lives and how much work and family demands of us, we are all on the look out for easy ways to get thin.  Most of us have tried diets, of course, but they are hit or miss and some are just out right dangerous (no-carb diets, for example).  So what are some ways to get thin just by adding a little bit at a time?

Drink Lots of Water

You might be surprised to learn but it turns out one of the best ways to get thin is to drink extra water.  Doctors recommend eight big glasses per day but you are better off with twelve.  Why water?  Well, it turns out that good old H2O is, first off, not filled with calories (as you already know) and it has a series of positive effects for those trying to keep the pounds off.  Water works as a filtration system, for example, helping to push excessive carbs and fats through your system.  It also works like a lube, helping the liver and other organs to digest food while also keeping gallstones from forming (especially important, as we get older).  Finally, water works as an appetite suppressant giving our stomach a full feeling, and thus making it easier for us to avoid snacking in between meals.

Don’t Snack In Between Meals

Which brings us to the second tip.  Avoid snacking in between meals.  Much of our weight gain is due not to things that we eat at breakfast, lunch, or dinner, but what we have in the afternoon when we are bored or nervous.  Therefore, your best bet is to avoid snacking between meals.  This is of course easier said than done; after all, if you spend a lot of time at home in the kitchen cooking for the kids and getting them snacks it is hard to avoid snacking yourself.  You might, however, try replacing simple fatty carbs of the kind you find in candy bars with fruits instead, complex carbs that don’t go through you so quick and that don’t build fat quite so easily.

Shop Smart

One key that many people don’t think about is in shopping smartly.  If you want to lose weight, then one of the best things you can do to help yourself is to take the easy calories out of your home by not bringing them in in the first place.  When you go to the supermarket you should go with the intention of buying better healthier foods (fruits for snacks instead of candy bars and soft drinks, for example) and you should go with a clear head.  That means that you should never go to the supermarket when you are hungry or nervous.  When our minds are distracted, we are more likely to buy easy, fattening comfort foods that we will regret when we hit the scale.  The best time to go to the supermarket is after you have eaten a good meal and are not hungry.  This will help you shop smart.

Take the Stairs

Another of the easiest ways to get thin is not to avoid exercise in your daily life.  If you live close enough, bike to work; if you are going shopping in town, park in one spot and walk between the stores; if you work upstairs in an office building, take the stairs.  Even if you don’t have time for going to the gym, taking these extra steps (literally and figuratively) will help to keep the pounds off.

Have More Sex

Yes, that’s right.  Sex is a great form of exercise—it increases the heart rate, raises the temperature of the body, and can, if done right, really burn some calories.  If you can’t go to the gym, then go to the bedroom.  Both you and your partner will be happier, more satisfied, and less likely to need food as a crutch.

Now if that isn’t easy, then nothing is.
