Treating and Preventing Common Soccer Injuries
There are basically two different types of soccer injuries; there are cumulative injuries and acute injuries. The difference between the two is that cumulative injuries are attributed to overuse, and an acute injury is caused by a sudden impact or force.
The cumulative injury is something that happens over time due to overuse of the muscle, tendons and joints. These soccer injuries are a result of stress on the muscles and joints that are not given enough time to heal before they are subjected to more stress. With this type of injury the pain may not be severe in the beginning, but if it isn’t treated the injury can get worse and the result could be disabling pain. Acute soccer injuries are the result of a sudden force or impact on a particular area of the body; these injuries can be very painful and nearly always require immediate medical attention.
Some of the most common soccer injuries include concussions, sprains, blisters, ruptured tendons, bone fractures, pulled muscles, and muscle soreness. Knee injuries are also among the most common soccer injuries; this injury is often due to torn ligaments because there was a sudden change in direction while running.
A torn knee cartilage is also fairly common; this injury is the result of sudden twisting, as well as impact. Injured knee cartilage is diagnosed by physical examination and tests that will detect the torn cartilage.
Frequently the reason that soccer injuries occur can be attributed to a few different things, such as overuse, bad coordination and not warming up prior to a game. These injuries may also occur if there is not enough rest time between games or if playing conditions are poor.

Someone will also want to make sure that the playing field is clean and free of any debris; it is also not a good idea to play on a field that is too wet. While playing you should always ensure that you are properly hydrated to avoid muscle cramps.
While some schedules can be very demanding, it is more important to rest up between games than it is to play every game. If the schedule is too demanding you may want to sit on the bench through some of the games. Play too much is what leads to cumulative soccer injuries.
If you do suffer an injury it is significant that you seek medical attention as soon as possible. First aid should be administered onsite and then the injured person transported to the nearest hospital or clinic.
